March VIP - Barbara
Barbara had two clear goals in mind when she came to work with me. She wanted to "no longer be invisible" and she wanted to be able to wear a scarf.  MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.  Believe it or not, the first thing you have to do to correctly wear a scarf is decide if your neck is long, medium or short.  The shorter the neck, the further away you want to have the scarf lie. Only those with long necks (men or women) will look good with their scarfs tied close to the neck. Scarves can be slenderizing and stylish when worn correctly.

Think Twice

Think twice before telling that off-color story or repeating a negative incident you heard from someone else.  Interestingly enough, when you repeat something dark, negative or defamatory that you credit someone else as saying, all that ugliness actually sticks to you.  Yes - as soon as the words are uttered, it goes on your persona and we associate you with those negative comments.  It's just better not to repeat something that is less than positive even if you are factual.  Being accurate won't make up for the negative energy you just attached to yourself.
If I Could Turn Back Time. . .

. . . I would remember to put sun screen on my hands and chest as well as my face. My hands are a dead giveaway for my 64 years of sun fun. And while I can adopt the latest nail colors and styles, I can't change the dark sun spots on my hands. I have tried different products and for the most part it's irreversible. So let your sons and daughters know the importance of sun screen now. The damage shows up later and there is nothing attractive about "age spots" on any of us. The sun damage was preventable - I just had no idea.

Be 100% committed.  No one wants to be in a relationship where they are committed to 99% monogamy, right?  Be 100% committed to your health and plan for success.  Whatever you SAY is important. You're either in or out is my experience. When it comes to exercise and healthy habits, take 100% ownership.  Don't blame others.  Every time you are remotely tempted to look at how someone else contributed to your disappointments - you are losing the time you could have spent taking ownership and taking action for yourself. When it comes to exercise we don't need to "feel like it" to show up.  Instead, know that every bit of movement helps your energy, your posture and your ability to take on what the day might bring.
Serene Shades of Blue
I LOVE color and I seek an environment that is as clutter free as possible, but it's a never ending challenge for me.  Apparently, I am not the only one that is looking for simplicity.  An overwhelming trend for decor in 2018 appears to be creating tech-free sanctuaries where you actually find a little relief in unplugging and actually relaxing. Behr's first-ever Color Of The Year, appropriately called In The Moment T18-15, is a casual and calm blue that immediately makes you feel more at peace.  "In The Moment speaks to our society's desire to disconnect and be present," said Erika Woelfel, Vice President of color and creative services at Behr. "It crosses multiple design styles - global, coastal, modern - and pairs well with other subdued colors to create harmony for interiors or exteriors."
Verbal Epidemic
I have done a fair amount of speaking over the last month in numerous states and I am convinced there is an epidemic in California.  When I look up the definition of epidemic I find this;  1) an outbreak of disease that spreads quickly and affects many individuals at the same time; 2) an outbreak of epidemic disease; 3) an outbreak or product of sudden rapid spread, growth, or development. What I hear is an epidemic with youth and adults, men and women at various social and educational levels, who cannot...I repeat... cannot speak without using, "and like" or "basically" over and over.  I do not hear these phrases or words with other individuals outside of California.  But here, it's an epidemic.  Can anyone tell me how this occurred?
